Please forgive the lack of pictures, I'll make sure to take some next time I bake the cake. This is a heavy, moist cake, so don't take too huge of a piece, no matter how tempting it is!
This is a recipe that my Grandma used to make and I grew up with. It is the best Chocolate Cake I've ever had.
You Will Need:
3 Bowls
2 Greased 9" Cake Pans
Ingredients in Bowl 1:
1c Oatmeal
1/2c Cocoa
2c Boiling Water
Directions:
Turn the oven to 350. Mix the ingredients together and let them stand.
Ingredients in Bowl 2:
4 Eggs
1c Oil
3c Brown Sugar
Directions:
Beat the ingredients together and let sit.
Ingredients in Bowl 3:
2c Flour
2 tsp Baking Powder
2 tsp Baking Soda
Directions:
Mix everything together and then add in bowl 3. Once they are combined, add bowl 1 and then pour into the cake pans. Put them in the oven for 30 minutes (or until you can poke them with a fork and it comes out clean).
If you want to ice, let them sit and cool. Otherwise, it is great with whip cream and cherry pie filling, like black forest cake!
