A rant from a highschool homeschooler.
Dear College,
I was recently accepted into an electrical engineering program at an awesome college... I am looking forward to start this program, but I decided that I would go ahead and apply with you as well. You see, I am constantly designing things. Dresses, desks, tables, couches, and beds... I dream them up and draw them out. So, dear college, I decided to apply to your furniture making program.

You sent me an email that I was missing documentation. I wasn't that surprised. You see, I was homeschooled through highschool. I know that this makes it very difficult for you to see what I have accomplished, but I am smart, so I think it is worth your effort.
I called in at the number so that we could work together to make a plan.
This was apparently my mistake.
I finished highschool with high grades and more credits than most highschool students. You telling me repeatedly that I am not a highschool graduate doesn't help anyone. Let me tell you, I wish I had that easy diploma too.
I asked if I could get in as a mature student.... No. I can not. I need to prove that I can complete the schooling. No, I can't write assesment tests. In fact, even if I had a GED, I still can't get in. They need to see certain credits.... Not the ones that I did mind you, because they don't accept homeschool credits.
What about the post-secondary diploma I received? No? That doesn't count for anything either? Why not? Oh.... Because I need to show you my senior credits? Right... But not the ones I did. Because the homeschooling thing again.
Yes people, that is right. I can train to run your plants and invent your machines, but heaven preserve us if I run a saw.
Before you ask, no, the program is not full. Apparently it is too difficult to take the time to try to figure out a way that works. Unless I want to pay $3500 to go to their college for a year? No... I think I'm good, another college will get my money thanks, because they actually were willing to take the time to figure out a way that I can get in.
